DOUG STONE TO PERFORM AT TOYS FOR TOTS KICKOFF
July 21, 2003 (Nashville, TN) – The United States Marine Corps Reserve’s
Middle Tennessee Toys for Tots
program will host their annual Kick Off Celebration for the 2003
holiday season on July 24th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the
Radisson Hotel – Airport. In addition to a night of mingling
and food, country hit-maker Doug Stone will
perform a very special acoustic set for attendees. The event will
include a presentation of the All Aboard 2003 Campaign
as well as highlights from the 2002 campaign.
Stone, who’s list of country hits
includes “In A Different Light,” “More Love,”
“I Thought It Was You,” and
“I’d Be Better Off (In a Pine Box),” is no stranger to struggle. The singer once housed his
family in a converted milk house while he was working to make it
as a singer. In the mid-nineties, Stone successfully recovered from
heart bypass surgery and voice troubles, and has since triumphed
back onto the music scene.
“I have five children of my
own, and they’re the greatest gifts I’ve ever been given,”
says Stone. “Toys
for Tots is a wonderful organization, and I’m honored to play
a small part in helping them make the holidays brighter for underprivileged
children.”
Like Stone, USMRC Toys for Tots has
grown better with time, and each year board members are challenged
to help a growing number of children who would otherwise not be
able to experience the true meaning of the holidays, because they
do not have a gift under their Christmas tree to open. Thanks to
local agencies and caring neighbors, USMRC Toys for Tots is able
to reach out and provide for these families.
Members of the media interested in attending
this event and providing coverage leading up to the kickoff may
contact Tina Hamilton at 615-977-0968.
