SGA
TAPS DUO TO REPRESENT
COUNTRY FORMAT AT ANNUAL
NMPA
MEETING
JUNE 13, 2003 (New York,
NY) – Country duo and brothers Wes Cleve and AJ Clark have been
selected as one of only three unsigned artist/songwriters to showcase
their talents at the annual meeting of the National Music Publishers
Association (NMPA) in New York on Monday, June 16th.
The
Songwriters Guild of America (SGA) selected three unsigned members
to showcase at the event, attended by the leadership of many of
the top worldwide music publishing companies. Wes Cleve and
AJ Clark are the only country music artist/writers slated to showcase.
“They
were chosen out of all guild members to be one of 3 artist/songwriters
to represent the SGA at the NMPA annual meeting, where they will
perform for approximately 300 major music publishers from around
the world,” says SGA President Rick Carnes. “I
think Wes Cleve and AJ represent Nashville and the future of country
music well. They can play comfortably to a Nashville, New
York, or Los Angeles crowd. They have a very unique sound
and a broad-based appeal.”
Based
in Alvarado, Texas, Wes Cleve and AJ Clark play approximately 150
dates a year, and have been making a living performing music together
since Wes Cleve, now 28-years-old, was seven. They have recently
begun to raise some eyebrows when their song “Freedom Hurts” began to garner significant airplay on major country radio
stations, an accomplishment virtually impossible for an unsigned
artist. To find out more about Wes Cleve and AJ Clark, visit
