Scared stiff to speak in public? Voice coach has the
fix for your fear factor!
The number one fear in America isn’t
terrorism, or even death. According to The People’s Almanac,
what petrifies Americans most is speaking in public, clinically
known as glossophobia. If you’re among the fearful, Renee
Grant-Williams, a leading voice coach and authority on communication,
can help with her Barnes & Noble University online course Stand
and Deliver: Speaking with Confidence.
The course begins on September 8th,
and is designed to improve a speaker’s comfort level whether
they’re trying to make an effective sales pitch, deliver an
award-winning speech, run better business meetings, or simply give
a toast at their best friend’s wedding.
“You will choose a familiar
subject and take it through all the steps required to create, prepare,
and deliver an eloquent and powerful speech,” Says Grant-Williams. “It’s fun, interactive, and
the principles you will learn will help you become more confident
and persuasive whenever you speak, in any situation.”
The four-week course is available at
www.BarnesandNoble.com,
and is structured to work in conjunction with Grant-Williams’
book VOICE POWER: Using Your Voice to Captivate, Persuade, and
Command Attention (AMACOM Books, NY). VOICE POWER has been endorsed by Paul Harvey and was chosen by
Soundview Executive Book Summaries
as one of the thirty best business books of 2002. Tuition for the
course is $49.95.
Renee Grant-Williams is a well-known
voice coach whose clients include senators, attorneys, salespeople,
and celebrities like Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, Linda Ronstadt, Randy
Travis and Christina Aguilera. She maintains, “Although
you and Madonna may have very different venues and target audiences,
both of you must engage and entertain the audience if you want to
win them over.”
A graduate of and former instructor
at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as former Director
of the Division of Vocal Music at the University of California,
Berkeley, Grant-Williams is currently an active member of the National
Speakers Association, presenting communication programs to business
organizations. She has written for or been quoted by Cosmopolitan,
