COMEDIAN
TIM WILSON MORE
THAN JUST ANOTHER “FUNNY GUY”
November 4, 2002 (Louisville, KY) - Capitol
Records comedian Tim
Wilson is best known for poking fun at the idiosyncrasies in our
society with songs like “The Clone Song,” “First
Baptist Bar and Grill,” and “Crematorium for Sale,” but
this weekend Tim took time to visit with the attendees of the National
FFA (Future Farmers of America) convention in Louisville, Kentucky
between his performances at the Comedy Caravan.
On Friday, November 1st, Wilson
stopped by the Catzbox Music booth at the convention to autograph
copies of his new CD, Certified
Aluminum: His Greatest Recycled Hits. The annual convention
hosts over 40,000 members of the FFA, an organization that is made
up of future leaders of America’s agricultural community.
“I’ve been doing
comedy for 20 years and I’ve traveled all over the country,
but I have never seen such a large gathering of young people with
as much integrity.” Wilson said of the convention-goers
he met. “I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet
these kids. They totally changed my vision of who our farmers
are. It really gives me new hope for the future of our country.”
Later that evening, Tim once
again showed his giving side at the club where he was appearing.
Minutes before his show, Tim stopped to talk with a fan in the lobby
of the club who was visibly upset. She told Wilson that she
and her husband had purchased tickets to his show earlier in the
week, only to find that the show had been oversold when they arrived.
They were told by the club owner that their tickets would be honored
at the next night’s show, but unfortunately they would not
be able to afford to pay a babysitter for another night. Wilson,
without even allowing the fan to finish her story, reached into
his wallet and handed the woman her money back, apologizing for
the mishap and inviting her to be his personal guest at the next
show.
In other news, Tim Wilson will
take time out of his busy performance schedule to appear as guest
host of Atlanta’s WKHX
“Kicks 101.5” morning show on Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday, November
6. The station is currently in search of a permanent host
for the show, and Wilson, an Atlanta native, is looking forward
to the opportunity.
