PROMOTION VET ALLMAND CELEBRATES FIRST
SONGWRITING TOP TEN WITH BROOKS AND DUNN'S
"YOU CAN'T TAKE THE HONKY TONK OUT OF THE GIRL"
NOVEMBER 11, 2003 (Nashville, TN)
? Former Monument Records National Director of Promotion Bart Allmand
has a new reason today to call on all his radio friends and thank
them for a top-ten record. He co-wrote the current Brooks and Dunn
single "You Can't Take the Honky Tonk Out of the Girl,"
that checks in at #10 on this week's Billboard Country chart, and
#9 on the R&R country chart.
Allmand, who has also done stints as VP of Third Coast Entertainment
and as Midwest regional promoter at RCA, has been hard at work writing
songs since he left Monument in the fall of 2001, where he was instrumental
in
launching the career of the Dixie Chicks. He is currently a staff
writer
for Windswept Pacific/ 3 Ring Circus publishing, where he was signed
by
this year's BMI songwriter of the year, Jeffrey Steele. The song,
co-written by legendary tunesmith Bob Dipiero, is not only Allmand's
first top-ten hit as a writer, but it's also his first cut.
"From a guy that changed careers at age 37, thanks to all my
friends at country radio for helping me make a smooth transition,"
Allmand says. "I can't thank Jeffrey Steele enough for encouraging
me to pursue my songwriting and believing in me enough to give me
a paycheck. It also doesn't hurt that Kix and Ronnie cut an awesome
record on the song!"
