MILLER HARRIS FOUNDATION LAUNCHES ASTHMA CAMP FOR KIDS,
GEARS UP FOR GOLF TOURNEY FOR MUSIC AND ASTHMA EDUCATION

JULY 26, 2006 (NASHVILLE) – The Miller Harris Foundation, a non-profit organization to benefit asthma and music education, has partnered with the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center to establish the Miller Harris Asthma Camp for Kids.  The inaugural camp will take place on August 7th through 11th at the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center.  The camp is limited to 35 campers, chosen based on special needs and admitted to the camp free-of-charge.

The Miller Harris Asthma Camp for Kids provides educational sessions to inner-city children living with asthma, taught by medical professionals with experience in specialized needs of asthmatics.  Campers will also participate in a wide array of activities including arts & crafts, archery, hiking, games, and swimming.

The camp is financed in part by the Miller Harris Foundation, which will be hosting its 7th annual Miller Harris Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, September 11th at 11:30 am.  The tournament has become a tradition for many members of the Music Row community, but golfers from all walks of life are welcome to participate and contribute to the fundraising efforts of the charity.  The tournament kicks off with a party and silent auction on Saturday, September 9th at Judge Bean’s Barbeque beginning at 6 pm.  Golfers, friends, and the public are invited to the kick-off party.

The Miller Harris Foundation is a private nonprofit (501c3) organization established in 2002 by family and friends of music business professional Miller Harris, who died tragically from an asthmatic attack while preparing for a golf outing with friends at the age of only twenty-five. The Foundation seeks to help fund organizations that were important to Miller, his family and friends, as well as those that educate others that experience the effects of asthma everyday.

Openings are still available for the Miller Harris Memorial Golf Tournament.  For more information on sponsorships, player packages, or volunteer opportunities, please contact the Miller Harris Foundation at (615) 242-2842 or go to www.millerharrisfoundation.com.
